Karen Remele, PTA Karen joined Wholistic Physical Therapy as a Myofascial Release Therapist in 2008. She first met and started training with John Barnes and Scott van Niekerk in 2002. Karen is very excited to use Myofascial Release as her manual therapy of choice, although she has multiple varied skills and interests. Her “naturally good touch” creates a strong foundation for a therapeutic healing experience in each and every treatment session. Since 2002, Karen’s personal experience and training has drawn her to the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach. It has been principle in her own healing process and that of her patients. She combines this bodywork wisdom with an in-depth knowledge of Pilates, Yoga, Russian ballet and modern jazz dance. These varied skills provide Karen with a unique perspective on the healing journey, as well as an intimate knowledge of body mechanics and movement. By incorporating Myofascial Release and traditional therapy in to her regimen of care, Karen utilizes an effective, fun and educational approach to her treatment of patients; providing her with the unique ability to assist in the decrease of pain, restore movement, and improve overall quality of life. Her goal is to educate her patient on how to maintain the gains made in treatment and function at their best. She has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in CT since 2000, and has now started practicing in New York State. She is a member of PSI BETA, and graduated from the Housatonic Community College with high honors. Over the past few years, Karen has worked with in/out- patient orthopedic and neurologic clinics and most recently on rehabilitation and improving the quality of life in the geriatric population. On a personal note, Karen also enjoys the outdoors, trail running with her sons and walking with her daughter and husband. They have a dog, cat and a famous ferret “Deuce”!
